Denis Combe-Chastel (France)

Denis Combe-Chastel studied economics and law and later on singing at the Conservatoire de Paris. He perfected his craft in masterclasses with Camille Maurane, Michel Dens, Alain Vanzo, Gérard Souzay, Alfredo Kraus, Walter Berry, Christa Ludwig and Renata Scotto.
He began his career at the Opéra de Lyon in 2000 and was a member of the Bielefeld Theatre until 2004.
Important roles in his repertoire of course include many leads in the French repertoire such as Pelléas, Albert in Massenet’s Werther and Valentin in Gounod’s Faust, but he has performed with equal success Frau Melitone in La forza del destino, Ottokar in der Freischütz or Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.
Since 2007 he regularly teaches masterclasses in French mélodies at the Karlsruhe School of Music.
