Scott Curry (Australia)
Coach and Pianist
Scott Curry is an Australian pianist, coach and conductor. He studied piano with the Schnabel pupil Nancy Weir at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
He works in Berlin as a freelance pianist and conductor. He taught at the University of the Arts as assistant to Prof. Harald Stamm and Prof. Siegfried Lorenz. He appeared in concert and worked with singers such as Doris Soffel, Jochen Kowalski, Ruthhild Engert, Karsten Mewes, David Wakeham, William Matteuzzi and Irina Gavrilovici.
In Australia, he has appeared at important festivals, worked at the major opera theatres and was Head of Music at the West Australian Opera Perth.
As an accompanist and in chamber music formations he has appeared at the Berlin State Opera, at the Dresden Festival for Contemporary Music and the Berlin Festwochen.
He has conducted Baroque and contemporary repertoire at the Stuttgart State Opera, the Komische Oper, the Düsseldorf 6 Days of Opera Festival, the Rheinsberg Music Academy, the Herrenhausen Festival, as well as the Berlin premières of Prokofiev’s Maddalena, Händel’s Amadigi di Gaula and the European première of Gordon Kerry’s Medea.
